Chase City is served by an award-winning volunteer rescue squad, volunteer fire department, four major banks, and excellent town utilities and refuse collection. Also there is a new modern Community Center, active YMCA branch, Scouting and various other community service organizations.

The Estes Community Center is the culmination of the efforts of the citizens of Chase City and surrounding area to match a gift challenge made by C. Edwin Estes in honor of his father, W. W. Estes.

Chase City Community Services Board, the governing body of the Center, has formed a partnership with Southside Virginia Community College to bring college-level training and educational opportunities to Chase City. College classes are offered at the Center including training programs for nursing assistants, computer training, and academic classes, which apply to programs of study at SVCC.

The Estes Center is available to all citizens for rental and is used for weddings, receptions, reunions and other events and meetings. The Bluestone High School prom has been held in the Center for the past 13 years.

Summer Scholars, an activity and enrichment program for area children, is held each summer at the Estes Center. Children are able to register for classes in music, crafts, fishing, reading, cooking, etc., to broaden their skills during the summer vacation as well as having an enjoyable summer experience. These classes are offered during July and August each summer.
